Why BJP wanted Congress to win Telangana?

As of 3rd Dec afternoon, Telangana voters seemed to have given a clear majority to Congress. It was not so surprising since Kcr and his family’s arrogance has grown to insurmountable levels.

Starting from breaking away from the promise of making a Dalit candidate as first CM of Telangana, Kcr and his family has treated Telangana as their own “Jaagir”.

There were countless stories of Kcr daughter Kavitha going to Jewelery shops and taking forced gifts of costly ornaments!!

Ktr was relegated to Urban areas and lost touch with people on the ground. His arrogance has further damaged Party’s prospects.

Although Harish Rao is a ground level leader, Kcr’s apprehension about him over shadowing his son Ktr, has gradually made Harish Rao irrelevant at State level by taking away his minister portfolios.

The last nail in the coffin was Kcr daughter Kavitha getting caught in Liquor scam red handed.

This has led to a clear cut anti-incumbency on Kcr government and public, especially rural voter has decided to bring down kcr and his family!

Anti-incumbency Wave

Both BJP and Congress have been fighting against BRS for the past few years. During anti-incumbency wave, if there are 2 parties trying to take advantage of it, the anti-incumbency vote would be divided among those 2 opposition parties and the ruling party will emerge victorius again!

Until about Jun 2023, Bjp was doing great under Bandi Sanjay leadership. In a shocking twist Bjp removed him as President of Telangana Bjp party.

After careful review, the party felt Bandi Sanjay may not be able to pull a victory for BJP. Instead he will split the anti-incumbency vote which will prove advantageous to BRS.

For 2024 election, BJP will have betters chances in Lok Sabha election if they have Congress as opponent instead of BRS.

There is a possibility to manipulate Congress and its voters but BJP cannot have BRS voters to vote for them in Lok Sabha.

So keeping all these calculations in mind, BJP decided to take a back seat in Telangana assembly polls and prepare itself for the more important Lok Sabha election in 2024.

The Jagan factor

In recent months both Kcr and his son Ktr have heavily criticized Andhra govt for its poor roads and electricity infrastructure. They infact asked Telangana voters to compare with Andhra and then vote for them. This has heavily upset AP CM Jagan who supported Kcr in 2018 elections. He made his cadre remain silent without any cooperation to BRS in this elections.

Overall Kcr and his family’s high handed ego and arrogance had led to their downfall!

In coming years, it will be again BJP vs Congress in Telangana state!
