Twitter insults PM Modi — Will Indian Govt react?
PM Modi tweeted praise of Shivaji Maharaj on the eve of his birth anniversary on Feb 19th. Twitter flagged the tweet as “Sensitive content” and masked it. Twitter usually flags tweets that are violent in nature or have pics of victims from violent events that are considered not appropriate for public viewing and advises user discretion.
India as a nation was flabbergasted to see none other than Prime Minister’s tweet flagged as insensitive content. It’s an open secret that Twitter, especially Twitter India is extremely left leaning and is very much averse to anything being glorified in support of India.
Shivaji Maharaj gave tough time to Mughal tyrant Aurangzeb and so, a section of left leaning people are not very supportive of the Great Shivaji Maharaj. But Twitter cannot judge based on minority opinion of Shivaji Maharaj.
The Vice President of India Venkayya Naidu took serious exception to Twitter’s over reaction to PM Modi’s tweet.
However that may not be enough. Govt of India must immediately ask for an explanation and subject Twitter to IT and social media laws of India.
Indians are used to reading Alexander the Great, Akbar the Great. But Indian textbooks never referred Indian kings as Shivaji the Great, Maharana Pratap the Great, Krishnadevaraya the Great, Raja Raja Chola the Great or Assam king Ahom the Great.
It is high time slave mentality Indians realize and recognize the greatness of their ancient heritage and demand for a disciplinary action against companies like Twitter.
If not, one should not be surprised if Twitter deletes PM Modi’s account for supporting Trump govt with his famous slogan “Phir ek baar Trump Sarkar".
Jai Hind!
