S E N S A T I O N A L — Reddy Kamma WAR reaches its Pinnacle!
In a hurriedly convened press meet on Saturday, Principal Advisor to AP CM Jagan, Ajay Kallam, had an explosive revelation that CM had written an official complaint to Chief Justice of India about the “acts of malfeasance” by Judges close to Chandrababu Naidu. In India’s 70 plus years history after Independence, arguably, this is the first time a State Chief Minister has officially complained against a sitting Supreme Court Judge. It is now all out in open that AP Govt wants to take a head on battle with AP High Court!
For past several months, AP High Court has given several unfavorable judgments to incumbent AP Govt headed by CM Y S Jagan. Be it, staying on English medium introduction in schools or staying distribution of housing to poor or staying of AP 3 capital implementation (after the bill even getting approved by AP Governor) or staying on AP govt guesthouse in Vizag, AP High Court had essentially stalled several of govts plans to execute its Welfare or Developmental programs. It reached a tipping point, when AP High Court ordered a stay on any investigation into Amaravati Land scam. This has brought things to a stand still and AP Govt was left with no option but to sit idle on many of its planned programs.
Delving into further details around the stalemate between AP Govt and its High Court, one cannot ignore the casteism that has played a major role in the whole controversy. AP has 2 dominant political castes — Reddy and Kamma. Over the past 70 years, leaders from either Reddy or Kamma caste have ruled AP for the majority of the time. During past 5 years, Chandrababu Naidu had shifted the capital to Amaravati region (although the 2014 bifurcation act gave Hyderabad as common capital to both AP and Telangana until 2024) and had given majority of the capital region lands to his caste associates. Caste favoritism had eventually led CBN to most humiliating defeat in his 40 year political career. Jagan won 151/175 MLA seats and CBN was restricted to only 23 MLA seats. When Jagan proposed 3 capital plan and got it approved in Assembly and passed it as a law after AP Governor, CBN caste associates started backdoor plans to stop AP 3 capital implementation since they could not stop it through Legislative assembly or council.
It is be noted that Supreme Court Justice N V Ramana on whom CM Jagan complained, belongs to CBN caste. CM Jagan in his complaint said that AP High Court is not acting independently and they are under the influence of TDP. CM Jagan mentioned Justice N V Ramana name several times in his complaint and said that “N V Ramana was influencing administration of Justice through AP High Court CJ Maheshwari”!
CM Jagan mentioned that N V Ramana daughters got land in Amaravati. He cornered Ramana by saying that, since the Judge has claimed his 2 daughters as his dependents during his term as CJ of Delhi High Court when the land transaction happened, Ramana must be aware of his 2 daughters land transaction. CM Jagan has enclosed several documentation as evidences to prove that Judge N V Ramana, Ex Adv General Dammalapati Srinivas and Chandrababu Naidu belong to the same nexus. Incidentally all 3 of them belong to the same caste!
This seems to be carefully calculated move and not something that was taken out of emotions by AP CM Jagan. If Jagan wins this battle, he would be ensured of another term as CM. If he loses this battle, he would be pursued by Judiciary in his corruption cases and may even end up in jail. In that case, he would again get sympathy like he got earlier when Sonia Gandhi got him into jail for 16 months but couldn’t prove allegations against him. So its a win-win situation for CM Jagan.
On the other hand, this move can prove a death blow to CBN political career. CBN has lost most of his friends in national politics including Faroor Abdullah after his disastrous show in past elections. Even if CBN goes to jail in his corruption cases, he would not attract sympathy like Jagan. CBN who moved to his Telangana Hyderabad house after corona suddenly landed up in AP and called for a 13 district protests on AP 3 capital issue. CBN had taken the capital issue too far due to its high stakes and now he cannot back track. Its a Do or Die situation for Chandrababu Naidu and he is using all his experience to corner CM Jagan. Looks like CBN has grossly underestimated Jagan’s political acumen and has landed himself in such a messy situation!
Conclusion In 1989, NTR — founder of TDP party lost his seat to a lesser known Congress leader Chittaranjan Das. At that time NTR gracefully accepted his defeat and stated that he will accept people’s judgement. CBN who boasts of 40 years experience is unable to accept his defeat and since then has gone all out to stall government programs using his accomplices that he planted long ago in various govt institutions. During the age of social media, it is impossible to hide truth and facts. People are all well aware of the Amaravati land scam and it will only be prudent on the part of TDP to look for a safe exit strategy. Otherwise, they will find themselves going further down the Abyss!
