Pawan Kalyan continues to slide down the ladder of Value Based Politics!
Pawan Kalyan has always maintained that he would run only value based politics. Many believe that he started to drift away from his statement when he joined hands with Mayawati who is popularly perceived to be the queen of corruption. But PK didn’t start his slide with Mayawati’s alliance.
In Sep 2016, PK, demanding special status for AP, shouted from the rooftops of Kakinada that South Indians are as patriotic as North Indians and so should not be neglected. Few weeks after that speech, the deadly URI attack happened. Later India retaliated with surgical strike. Ppl expected him to at least tweet either condemning the URI attack or supporting the surgical strike. Pawan Kalyan chose to remain silent. He didn’t tweet since Apr 2016 so people didn’t take much notice when he didn’t tweet about URI in Oct 2016. But later in Nov 2016, when demonetization happened, PK was among the first celebrities to criticize it with a tweet saying it was “an economic blunder of epic proportions”. He choose to play politics over demonetization and remain silent over URI attacks!
After Pulwama attack in 2019, PK again choose to play politics. During the election campaign for 2019 election, he said that he was told that India would go for War before election, indicating that Pulwama attack may have been staged!!
Yesterday, the lone JSP party MLA Rapaka was arrested for barging into police station with his followers. Some of his followers were gambling and playing poker with about 33000 rupees in cash. Police arrested and took them to the police station. Rapaka went along with his followers demanding release of his followers. Upon refusal to release them, an argument ensued resulting in JSP MLAs arrest.
Instead of taking legal help to release his followers, MLA himself went to police station. Pawan Kalyan came in support of his MLA saying that one of the arrested members is on dialysis and should be released for that reason!! He went to the extent of saying that this is vendetta politics. Pawan Kalyan who talks about values in politics came down to support gamblers! Yet again, he has chosen to play politics instead of taking the route of value based politics.
One cannot expect much from a person who proudly claims he couldn’t pass Intermediate (Plus 2) even after 3 attempts but talks about Economic theories in relation to demonetization and issues irresponsible and dangerous statements on National security issues like Pulwama attacks.
It is not surprising to see PK supporting gamblers as he takes inspiration from Che Guevera instead of Alluri Seetharama Raju or Bhagat Singh!
