JSP BJP alliance- Does Pawan Kalyan have any credibility left?
Pawan Kalyan entered politics about a decade ago with his brother’s PRP party. He gained immense credibility when he defected with his brother and stayed away from joining Congress. Later during 2014 elections, he further cemented his position as a credible politician when he stayed away from contesting in elections and also rejected political positions offered by BJP.
During the past year his credibility has been dwindling consistently. He started his party to fight against corruption but went into alliance with Mayawati who was convicted by court in corruption cases. Later he went into alliance with communist parties whose ideology is completely different from his previous BJP partner.
Both Mayawati and Communist parties are staunch opponents to BJP. Pawan Kalyan would have to explain to his cadre, if any, on why he choose to leave Mayawati and Communist parties and now go back again to BJP. After all, he gave a public statement that he would like to see “Behenji" aka Mayawati as PM.
Since he now says he is committed to BJP until 2024 elections, he would need to answer why he thinks Mayawati should not be PM and what made him change his opinion on Mayawati within 6 months. He even bowed to Mayawati feet in public, not once but twice.
During the pressmeet today he spoke 2 blatant lies.
One — that YS Jagan agreed for Amaravati as capital.
Two- that YS Jagan agreed for 30000 acres land pooling.
YS Jagan said he was ok with Vijayawada as capital after CBN made a unilateral decision. Amaravati was not even in consideration when CBN announced Vijayawada as capital in Sep 2014 in the AP assembly.
Also YS Jagan asked for govt land to be procured. He has always been against acquiring farming land for capital purpose.
In the age of social media, Pawan Kalyan lies would be easily exposed. Pawan Kalyan recently asked his local leaders to contest as independents and not contest on his party symbol. In hindsight, PK aligning with BJP looks more of a Exit strategy from politics for him.
