AP CM Jagan’s commendable job with fight against Covid!
Past several months, entire World is engulfed with the fear of Corona virus. Leaders across the World are dealing with the biggest challenge of their political careers.
Some leaders are setting best practices for others to follow and emulate so as to save the population they serve.
India under the able leadership of PM Modi was able to contain the spread during the first few months due to the strict lockdown measures implemented by Central govt.
After Central govt handed over unlock responsibilities to local State govts last month, there is a constant surge in positive cases in many states.
Andhra Pradesh stands as a good example of how early testing in that state helped it contain the spread to a large extent.
While India as a nation is doing 8000 tests per 10 lakh population, AP govt is doing 21000 tests per 10 lak population, which is almost 3 times more than National average! More importantly, by Jun 1st AP tested close to 4 lak people and had them isolated and treated. This strategy of increased testing made sure that not many people with positive cases were roaming around when lockdown measures were relaxed.
In comparison, Telangana is testing only 4000 people per 10 lak population which is half the national average! By Jun 1st, Telangana tested only 23000 people compared to 4 laks in AP. So when lockdown was relaxed in Jun there were lot of untested people carrying Coronavirus knowingly or unknowingly going around freely in Telangana. This led to the current serious outbreak in Hyderabad. Had there been increased testing, positive cases would have been identified and treated.
So far, Telangana has tested a total of 1.4 lak people while AP tested closed to 11 lak people. CM Jagan’s govt leads all other states with 21000 tests per 10 lak population.
We definitely need to appreciate AP CM Jagan for leading AP in doing the most number of tests compared to other states in the country.
Hope other CMs in the country take a cue from CM Jagan’s administration and contain the spread. Praying for a speedy resolution to this largest humanitarian crisis of our lifetime!
